Born Kyle Graham Barnes, very near to historic Williamsburg Virginia in the East-coast of the United States. Surrounded by early American history and culture, Kyle grew up in an atmosphere of inspiration that continues to have a meaningful affect on his work and life today.
London -&- the Royal College of Music
Kyle’s early compositions earned him admittance to one of the world’s greatest conservatoires. The excellence of the Royal College of Music has been recognised by the 2018 QS World University Rankings as the top institution for Performing Arts in the UK and the European Union, and second in the world. There, Kyle read music with Joseph Horovitz - former Nadia Boulanger pupil and honoured British composer.
Pittsburgh -&- Carnegie Mellon University
For his work on “Markheim - A New Musical”, Kyle was invited to read music at the drama-world icon Carnegie Mellon University with full scholarship. There, in addition to his studies with Pittsburgh composer Nancy Galbraith, he works as a Research Assistant for the Dalcroze music faculty.
